Officers with the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded around 7 p.m. on Monday, March 4, to reports of gunfire in the 8100 block of Meade Village Road.
When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
One victim, identified as 23-year-old Derrick Purcell Ahmad McDonald of Severn, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The second victim, 28-year-old Mack Samuel Galloway III of Glen Burnie, was rushed to University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, officials said.
A third victim, a 26-year-old man, was injured by a possible metal fragment from the gunfire, though he was not shot, police said. He was taken to University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after the shooting, officers spotted a vehicle near Pioneer Drive and Jacobs Road with two men inside, believed to be involved in the incident, authorities said.
The passenger had been shot and was taken to Bay View Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. The driver was not hurt, police said.
Homicide detectives are leading the investigation, and multiple pieces of evidence have been collected from the scene and vehicle, according to officials.
While the motive remains under investigation, police believe this was a targeted attack and not a random act of violence.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
